Members,
In March 2025, Secretary Hegseth’s office initiated a review of all DoD advisory committees, including the DoD Wage Committee, to decide whether to retain, merge, or eliminate them. The DoD Wage Committee, which was re-chartered in 2024 under federal authority, is required to approve all new Federal Wage System (FWS) wage schedules before they can be published or implemented. Since the committee has not met in 2025, no new schedules have been approved, delaying raises for about 60,000 WG workers nationwide.
New wage schedules—based on revised rules for defining wage area boundaries to align more closely with non-Rest of U.S. GS localities—are complete and scheduled to take effect on October 1, 2025. Staff at the Defense Civilian Personnel Advisory Service (DCPAS) have repeatedly stated that the pause on committee activity is expected to be lifted soon, but this has been the case for over two months.
Further updates will be provided as new information comes available.
